It's Lower Body Day

How to Stay Healthy While Staying Home

With all the things occurring in the world right now, many of us are spending more time in our houses. It can feel tricky to keep up with a healthy lifestyle when your gym in West Des Moines is closed.

You might have changed into the educator, home cook, and parent in your household. Or you are working from home for a time and struggling to create some structure throughout the day.

Throughout these changing times, it can be appealing to spend more time on the couch, watching the news and Netflix, and slowly giving up on a daily workout routine. We may be passing more time at home, but we can always make ways to maintain healthy behavior! We’ve shared our top positive habits you can incorporate into your changing everyday routine to be active, promote your immune system, and manage momentum toward achieving your wellness goals.

Include Home Workouts

One nice thing about spending more time at home is the added space in your daily schedule. Take a look at your day. Where can you make a few minutes for a short workout? A successful workout doesn’t need to be long to make a difference. As long as your heart rate goes up, you will receive fat and calorie-burning advantages! Try our 12-minute home fitness class you can complete anytime, anywhere!

Include Your Kids in Your Workout

The pools may not be available, but there are still a variety of ways to create fun projects your children will enjoy. At the end of the day, staying active isn’t just for adults! Here are a couple of our top fun (and free!) ways your family can stay healthy all together:

  • Walk the dog
  • Play frisbee outside in the warm sun (hello Vitamin D!)
  • Go for a bike ride or roller skate journey
  • Design a floral arrangement with your family’s flowers
  • Play ball in your yard
  • Snag your sidewalk chalk and draw a driveway work of art
  • Have a dinner cooking challenge
  • Crank up the family playlist and have a dance party

Make Healthy Meals

Are you trying your best to stay away from grocery shopping? That works! This is the time to innovate in the kitchen and incorporate your family’s canned goods and frozen foods. With the kiddos out of school, full days at work, and almost endless household chores, keep your meals straightforward this summer.

At FXB, we make good nutrition simple for our members. Snag your favorite protein kind from the freezer, choose a carb for your side, and mix in some healthy fat. And there you have it: a healthy supper with no fuss. (And if it’s your fun day, call for a pizza and relax!)
